Talent Gets Reward: A UAE Company Awards 25 Scholarships to Genius IT Students of 6 State Universities

The fortune favored the talented students of public sector universities as TEXPO Group of Companies, a UAE leading global technology infrastructure provider and an IT consulting company, has announced 25 scholarships for talented students of six state universities IT departments in Pakistan under a talent hunt programme.

These students were selected among 371 contestants from six universities including NED University, Karachi University, Jamashoro, Balochistan and Peshawar and Karakoram, through an online countrywide test held on May 10, 2012.

The third-year students will be provided financial assistance and mentoring to pursue their career in the emerging fields of ICTs as per their area of interest and ability to grow through innovation and creativity.

These one-year scholarships will be an annual feature, said President and CEO Dr. Sarfraz Alam while speaking at scholarship award ceremony on the closing day of 7^th CONNECT-2012, at Karachi Expo.

The passing marks were 33% but contestants an average have scored above 75 % in the test which shows the talent and high caliber of Pakistani students. The successful students will be given practical advices to groom themselves at part with global trends.

These students will be get connected by the companies’ professionals every two week of a month through video-conference where they will be provided knowledge of the industry and its changing trends.

The students who will want to acquire extra qualification in Microsoft and CISCO certification will be supported financially by our company, TEXPO chief said.

I am a Pakistani and I wanted to groom the explored talent here, train and guide them in their career selection, he added. The global IT community respects and praises the high quality of Pakistani students. They acknowledge Pakistani IT industry as credible sector.

Dr Sarfraz, who is a Ph.D in IT security, said that IT professionals can greatly help Pakistan in improving its image in the world as our IT professionals are in demand world over due to their talents and high caliber and scholarships program is as an effort to highlight Pakistani IT talent to the outside world.
